Days Off
Alcohol can quickly become a part of your daily routine, and did for many of us during the lockdowns. A good way to take control of your drinking is to make sure that you have days off from alcohol. We’ve put together some tips to help you take more drink free days.
Swap it Out
When you’re doing your food shop, why not stock up on drinks that don’t contain alcohol. There are great varieties of alcohol-free beer, cider, wine and even prosecco in most chain supermarkets. This makes it easy to swap on your days off drinking, and you still get the same taste as alcoholic drinks. The good news is that most of these have about 1/3 of the calories, some even less, but it’s always worth checking!
Plan Around Events
Plan your days off drinking around your social events. For example, if you have a birthday party on a Monday why not have an alcohol-free day on the Tuesday?
Set Yourself a Goal
Think about what you want to achieve by taking more drink free days. Is it for your health, your sleeping patterns or so you can spend more quality time with family and friends? Once you know why you want to cut down your drinking set yourself a goal. Start with one day off from drinking a week and then build it up.
Download the Drink Free Days App
The Drink Free Day app is a brilliant way to track the days that you drink or don’t drink alcohol. It shows you money and calories saved, offers practical advice and helps you stick to your drink free goal.
Alcohol Free Options
Soft drinking is so much more than just a pint of coke these days! There’s more choice of alcohol-free wine, beer, spirits and cider than ever before, not to mention a huge range of soft drinks to choose from. Why not try creating your own mocktails – see which mixers go best with the alcohol-free spirits. Jazz it up with lots of ice and fruit and no one will know the difference! Or get your friends together for an alcohol-free wine tasting night?
